Command Sergeant Major Chad Cuomo
Command Sergeant Major Chad Cuomo enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1983, completed Basic Training at Fort Dix, N.J. and Advance Individual Training for Utility Helicopter Repairer at Fort Eustis, Virginia. His early assignments include the 82nd CAB, and the 57th MEDEVAC Company, Fort Bragg, NC where he quickly advanced to sergeant.
He has held every leadership position in his career field throughout his career, serving in positions from helicopter crew chief to Command Sergeant Major. He served as CSM in the 12th Aviation Battalion Ft Belvoir VA, 3-158th Aviation Regiment Ansbach GE 127th Aviation Support Battalion Hanau GE, CSM Cuomo has also served as the 3rd COSCOM Support Operations Sergeant Major, and served as First Sergeant of seven different companies: D Troop, 3-4 Cavalry, 25th Infantry Division, HI; HHT, 3-6 Cavalry, Camp Humphreys, South Korea; C Troop, 3-6 Cavalry, Korea; C Company (AVIM), 25th Avn Regt. HI; C Company, 2-25 Avn, HI; 6th Avn CO, SETAF, Vicenza, Italy; Black Hawk PM/Sikorsky Aircraft, Connecticut, and C CO, 501st Avn, Camp Humphreys, Korea. In 2009, he assumed responsibility as Command Sergeant Major of the 12th Aviation Battalion, Davison Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, VA. On August 1, 2010, CSM Cuomo assumed responsibility as the Command Sergeant Major of the Army Air Operations Group, Fort McNair, Washington, DC.
CSM Cuomo’s civilian education and associations include an Associate degree in Applied Science, Administrative/Management Studies from Excelsior College of New York. He served on a variety of boards including chapter of the Army Aviation Association of America, the USO, BOSS, and the Military District of Washington (MDW) Family Readiness Council, the Fort Belvoir Garrison Soldier/NCO of the Year Board, and the MDW SGT Audie Murphy Club Board.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Korean Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 9), and Master Aircraft Crewmember. He is an Order of Saint Michael (Bronze) recipient.
