Lieutenant Colonel Daniel J. Heape
LTC Dan Heape was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery in June 1995 and branched transferred to Ordnance Corps in 1997. Prior to his assignment as the 10th Brigade Support Battalion Commander, he served as the Professor of Military Science at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
LTC Heape’s previous assignments include: Fire Direction Officer, and Executive Officer for 1st Platoon, Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Maintenance Platoon Leader, Executive Officer and Shop Officer for Bravo Company, 307th Forward Support Battalion 82nd Airborne Division (Airborne), Maintenance Management Officer for 16th Corps Support Group in Hanau, Germany, Commander 71st Ordnance Company, 18th Corps Support Battalion, 16th Corps Support Group in Hanau, Germany. LTC Heape graduated from California State University Sacramento with a Bachelor’s in Criminology and earned a Masters in Military Studies from the Marine Corps Command and General Staff College at Quantico, VA. LTC Heape is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and General Staff College, Quantico, VA, Combined Arms Staff Services School, Fort Leavenworth, KS, the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, Fort Lee, VA, the Ordnance Branch Qualification Course, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, and the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Fort Sill, OK.
LTC Heape’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (one oak leaf cluster), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (three oak leaf clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (three oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf clusters) and the Humanitarian Service Medal. LTC Heape’s badges include; the Combat Action Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Airborne Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge. His foreign decorations include the German Commando Badge in Gold and Silver.
