Command Sgt. Maj. Teddy Perio
CSM Perio completed OSUT in November of 1993 and reported to his first duty station in Fort Polk, LA in December of the same year.
As a member of the 3rd SQDN, 2nd ACR, his responsibilities included that of a driver for multiple leaders, as well as a member on the SQDN Color Guard team. He deployed to Haiti on behalf of a 1995 UN Peacekeeping effort (United Missions in Haiti), conducting multiple patrols, convoy and escort missions for the President of Haiti. He also executed a JTF-6 drug trafficking control mission in Brownsville, TX.
CSM Perio arrived at Fort Carson, CO as a member of the 3rd SQDN, 3rd ACR where he worked as a Section Sergeant for the S3 shop. He conducted multiple FTXs as the SQDN Battle NCO. After arriving to Budingen, Germany CSM Perio served as a Section Sergeant in 1/1 CAV. He successfully executed several FTX’s, multiple gunneries and developed the Squadron SOP for a Spur Ride Competition.
CSM Perio assumed duties as an IET Drill Sergeant at Fort Jackson, SC. He developed a new Battalion SOP for Basic Rifle Marksmanship during his tenure. After his time stationed at Fort Jackson, he was assigned to 1/3 ACR as a PLT SGT, deploying to the Al Anbar province in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I. After a six-month rotation, his unit redeployed to Fort Carson for a brief refit. CSM Perio deployed to Iraq once again as a PLT SGT in support of OIF III.
CSM Perio served as the Senior Military Science Instructor at Youngstown State University ROTC Program. CSM Perio’s responsibilities included instructing freshman and Junior ROTC candidates in the classroom and field environments. CSM Perio was assigned to Fort Drum, NY as a 1SG in 1-89 CAV. In October 2009, the SQDN deployed to Jisr Diyala, in the Baghdad Province.
During his 20 years of service, CSM Perio has earned multiple decorations and awards recognizing his achievements, including the Bronze Star Medal (1 Oak Leaf), the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf), an Army Commendation Medal w/V, the Army Commendation Medal with (1 Silver Oak Leaf), the Army Achievement Medal (4th Oak Leaf), a Joint unit award meritorious, an Army superior unit award, Army good conduct medal (7th Award), the National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, an Iraqi Campaign Medal-Campaign Star, a Global War on terrorism Expeditionary Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Humanitarian Service Medal, the Non Commissioned officer Professional Development Medal (4th Award), an Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, a United Nations Medal, a Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, and a Combat Action Badge.
In addition, CSM Perio has also completed PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, Bradley Master Gunner Course, Drill Sergeant School, EO School, Master Fitness Course, Scout Leader’s Course, MRT, the 1SG Course, and USASMA Class 64. He has also earned an Associate’s Degree from Youngstown State University in AA/General Studies and a Bachelor’s in Science Degree from Excelsior College.
