CSM Kuhlenschmidt entered the United States Army in 1982 and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Knox, Kentucky where he was trained as an Armor Crewman.

Polk, Louisiana; Tank Gunner and Commander with D Co, 3rd Battalion, 35th Armor in Bamberg, Germany; Detailed Recruiter in Pittsburgh Battalion; Tank Commander and Master Gunner with 1st Squadron 11th ACR, in Fulda, Germany and 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry, in Buedingen, Germany; Master Gunner Instructor and Drill Sergeant with 1st Battalion, 81st Armor, Ft. Knox, Kentucky; Platoon Sergeant with A and B Co, 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armor, Camp Casey, Republic of Korea; First Sergeant of B Troop, 1st Squadron, 3rd ACR, Ft. CSM Kuhlenschmidt’s military schooling includes all NCOES through the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 35 (Non-resident course); Drill Sergeant School; Army Recruiter Course and M1A1 Master Gunner; He holds an Associate’s Degree from Central Texas College.
