Captain Williams began his military career as a Cadet of the United States Military Academy at West Point.  He graduated with a Bachelor of History in Military Arts and Sciences with a Strategic focus.  After graduating from USMA in May 2005, he went on to complete Infantry Officer Basic Course, Ranger School, and Airborne School. 

In October 2006 Captain Williams deployed from Fort Wainwright in support of OIF  to join the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, “Arctic Wolves,” in Baghdad, Iraq. Assigned to 1-17 IN BN, “Buffaloes,” then 2LT Williams was assigned a platoon in A/52nd Anti-Tank Company.  He remained with the company through redeployment and the Brigade’s reflagging to 1-25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, “Arctic Wolves,” in December of 2006.  Following the Brigade’s reflagging, he remained with the newly reflagged D/52nd AT CO, 1-5 IN BN, “Arctic Bobcats,” as a First Lieutenant and the company's Senior Platoon Leader.

In July of 2008 Captain Williams earned his Pathfinder badge and was selected to build the 1-5 IN Battalion Reconnaissance Platoon.  During his time as the Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, his Platoon deployed in March of 2008 to Fort Magsaysay, Philippines in support of the joint/international Balikatan training exercise and then to National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California for a Mission Readiness Exercise in July of 2008. There he was promoted to the rank of Captain. In September of 2008, he deployed to Iraq, this time to Diyala Province.  During the deployment, Captain Williams’ Platoon conducted Battalion and Brigade TST and STG operations and Battalion reconnaissance operations until January of 2009.  Captain Williams then joined the 1-5 IN Battalion S-3 shop as an Assistant S-3 where he was the lead TST, reconnaissance, ISR, and sustainment training planner for the battalion. CPT Williams remained as the BN A/S-3 through redeployment until leaving Fort Wainwright to attend the Maneuver Captains Career Course in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Captain Williams was assigned to 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain at Fort Drum from the Career Course. Upon arrival at Fort Drum in August 2010, Captain Williams worked in the 2BCT Current Operations before assignment to 2-14 IN Battalion “Golden Dragons” as the Battalion long range planner in November 2010. Since joining 2BCT, he has deployed to Joint Readiness Training Center as a Company Trainer-Mentor and to Fort Hood, Texas as a planner in support of 40 CAB and 2-14 IN.

Captain Williams has earned the Valorous Unit Award, Bronze Star Medal, Army Achievement Medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with a Campaign Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Medal with Bronze Numeral 2, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.  He has also graduated from Maneuver Captains Career Course, Infantry Officer Basic Course, US Army Ranger School, US Army Airborne Course, US Army Pathfinder Course, Combatives Level 2, and the USAMU CQM Course.

First Sergeant Bradley McCarty was born in Beloit, WI in April of 1970. He enlisted in the Army in August of 1989. He completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training as an Infantry Soldier as Fort Benning, GA.

He has served in nearly every enlisted position from Ammunition Bearer to 1SG, as an 11C. He served as a Ammo Bearer, Assistant Gunner, Gunner, and Fire Direction Center Computer operator with HHC 5-16 IN at Ft. Riley, KS (1st IN Div (M)); Mortar Squad Leader with HHC 5/20 IN at Camp Casey, Korea (2ID); Mortar Squad Leader with G Trp 2-2 ACR at Ft. Polk, LA; Fire Direction Center Computer operator and Mortar Section Sergeant with HHC 1-509 ABN IN at Ft. Polk, LA (OPFOR-JRTC); Recruiter at the Mid-Atlantic Recruiting BN with duty in Georgetown, DE; Mortar Section Leader with B Co 2-14 IN; Mortar Platoon Sergeant with HHC 2-14 IN at Ft. Drum, NY (10th Mountain Div); Observer/Controller with Task Force Three at Ft. Polk, LA (JRTC); He is currently serving as the Company First Sergeant for Alpha Company 2-14 IN.

1SG McCarty's military education includes: The Primary Leadership and Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advance Noncommissioned Officers Course. He has attended Airborne School, Infantry Mortar Leaders Course, and the Army Recruiter Course.

Among his many awards and decorations are: The Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Army Commendation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (4th award), Army Recruiters Badge (Gold), Expert Infantryman's Badge, and the Combat Infantryman's Badge (2nd award)
