CSM Sean T. Watson entered the United States Army as an Infantryman on 12 July 1983. He attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) and Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA. He then volunteered and served in the newly activating 3rd Ranger Battalion at Fort Benning, GA.

CSM Watson has served in the following leadership positions: Team Leader, Squad Leader, Weapons Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Assistant Operations Sergeant, First Sergeant, Battalion and Brigade Command Sergeant Major. He has also served as a Primary Leadership Development Course instructor, Senior Noncommissioned Officers instructor, Australian Army Infantry School, Singleton, Australia, and as a Ranger Indoctrination Program and Ranger Orientation Program instructor. During his career he served in Operation Just Cause, Panama; Task Force Ranger, Somalia; Operation Enduring Freedom IV and X.

CSM Watson’s assignments include 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment; Joint Security Area - Panmunjom Korea; Wightman NCO Academy Korea; 75th Ranger Regiment; Australian Infantry School; 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division; United States Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB; 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division; 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division; 1st Battalion, 61st Infantry Regiment and the 165th Infantry Brigade, Fort Jackson; 2nd Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, Baumholder, Germany, and is currently serving as CSM 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.

CSM Watson’s military courses include all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System; additional courses attended include Airborne School, Ranger School, Air Assault School, Pathfinder Course, SERE Course, Jumpmaster Course, Battle Staff Course, and the Master Resiliency Training Course.  He holds an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from City Colleges of Chicago Harold Washington University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Excelsior College.

CSM Watson’s awards and decorations include: The Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2nd OLC - One V Device), Meritorious Service Medals (4th OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4th OLC - One V Device), Army Achievement Medal (5th OLC), Good Conduct Medal (9th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Arrowhead (2nd Award), Afghan Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge (2nd Award), Expert Infantry Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge with Bronze Star, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Thailand Parachutist Badge, British Parachutist Badge, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, and is the recipient of the Order of St. Maurice Medallion (Centurion).
