Command Sergeant Major Oldroyd
CSM Oldroyd entered active duty on 23 July 1985 at Ft. Knox KY, where he received basic and advance training as a Cavalry Scout. In November of 1985 he was assigned to 3/7 Cavalry 3rd Infantry Division in Schweinfurt West Germany where he was assigned as a Scout. In November of 1987 he moved to Ft. Bragg N.C. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion (Airborne) -73rd Armor Regiment, 82nd ABN DIV where he served as a Sheridan Tank gunner, commander and section leader. He left Ft. Bragg in 1992 when he was detailed to Recruiting. He recruited for the Army in Burlington VT from 1992-1995. In 1995 he was assigned to Ft. Hood TX, where he was assigned to 1-12 CAV, 1st CAV DIV. He served as a scout section leader and platoon sergeant until 2000. In 2000 he was assigned to Arizona State University as a Military Science Instructor. In 2003 he moved to Schweinfurt GE where he was assigned to 1-77 Armor, 1st INF DIV, where he served as B and HHC First Sergeant. From 2006-2007 he attended the United States Army Sergeant’s Major Academy. In the summer of 2007 he moved to Ft. Drum as a member of the 10th MTN DIV serving in the division G-3 as an operations sergeant. In 2009 he was assigned to 1-71 CAV, Fort Drum NY where he served as the Command Sergeant Major.
CSM Oldroyd is a graduate of all levels of the Non-Commissioned Officer Education System, the US Army Airborne School, Jumpmaster course, Army Recruiter, Army Combat Life Savers Course. He has an Associate’s Degree from the Community College of Vermont and a Bachelors’ Degree from Excelsior College.
CSM Oldroyd has deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Joint Forge, Operation Iraqi Freedom (twice) and Operation Enduring Freedom.
CSM Oldroyd’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Senior Parachutist Badge, Combat Action Badge, and Army Gold Recruiter Badge. His is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, and the Order of St. George.
