Command Sergeant Major Ryan L. AlfaroGarrison Command Sergeant Major 

CSM Ryan L. Alfaro entered the Army in January 1995, and attended Basic training and Advanced Individual Training at FT Benning, GA. CSM Alfaro has served in several different organizations, including 1/503rd, 2nd IN Division, 327 IN 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 2d Brigade, 3rd IN, Stryker Brigade Fort Lewis, Joint Security Area, Korea, 506 IN 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). His duty and leadership positions include Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, the Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 2-11th IN (IBOLC), and the CSM Observer/Controller, Scorpion Team, Operations Group, National Training Center, Fort Irwin, CA.  His combat tours include two tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 62), Airborne School, Air Assault School, and the BN/BDE Pre-Command Course.

He has an Associate’s Degree in Business and Administrative Management and currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in History.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2OLC), the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Accommodation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal (with Bronze Star), Iraqi Campaign Medal (with Bronze Star), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (with Numeral 3).  He also earned the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge’s, the Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge and is a member of the Order of Saint Maurice.
