Our logo was designed by our Graphics and Design Section in 1994 after the Directorate of Engineering and Housing reorganized into a Public Works. The design is representative of Northern New York - rich in wildlife, breathtaking scenery, and the dramatic change of seasons.
Every Spring and Fall, residents of our area witness the spectacular migration of Canada Geese. Powerful, yet graceful, these magnificent birds can be seen daily feeding and resting locally, and then entering the sky in response to ancient instincts.
The Public Works logo represents dependability, loyalty, and a strong work ethic. The similarities between the Canada Geese and our service organization are easily seen in the following link: Lessons from Geese. With this logo as the cornerstone of the organization, representing a program of deliberate and purposeful movement forward, a new era of customer oriented service took flight in Public Works.
