To avoid duplication of effort, individuals wishing to submit articles for publication should first contact the editor. The editor has no obligation to accept any story that has not been coordinated in advance. In addition, the editor reserves the right to edit or reject any material deemed unsuitable for publication.
The editor also reserves the right to edit all copy submitted to the Fort Drum Mountaineer to ensure it conforms to Department of Army journalism guidelines for news writing; conforms to "style" guidelines in the Associated Press Stylebook and Libel Manual, and meets appropriate story length to facilitate layout and design.
Stories are due by noon Friday unless other arrangements have been made. (National holidays require an early deadline, which will be announced.) Stories submitted after the deadline may be held for use as the editor deems appropriate.
The preferred method for submitting stories is electronically in a Word document by e-mail or on computer disk with a printed copy. Stories submitted in any other format may delay timely publication.
It is the writer's responsibility to verify the accuracy of all stories. Incomplete information may delay publication.
