Why 10th Mountain

The 10th Mountain Division is committed to transparent media coverage of CJTF-76 operations in Afghanistan to facilitate a fair and accurate portrayal of the actions taken by the U.S. and coalition military forces working to bring stability and democracy to Afghanistan.

10th Mountain Division units will deploy from Fort Drum, N.Y., in early 2006 to take over responsibilities of CJTF-76 operations.  The Division previously deployed to Afghanistan from November 2001 to May 2002 as the first conventional military force to deploy overseas in the Global War on Terrorism.  The Division completed a second deployment to Afghanistan in April 2004.
