On Nov. 20, members of the Fort Drum Mountain Community Homes staff teamed up with their partner representatives to give Soldiers and Families an opportunity to win a turkey during the annual Turkeys for Troops giveaway. As a small gesture of thanks to those who serve our nation, 200 turkeys and side dishes were provided to the winners.

"Here at Mountain Community Homes, we understand the hardship that can come with military life, and that at times it can be difficult to travel home for the holidays to visit friends and Family," said Joe McLaughlin, project director for Mountain Community Homes. "Through our (partners), we were happy to bring a little bit of holiday cheer to the Soldiers and Families stationed here at Fort Drum."

Despite the harsh and snowy weather, representatives unloaded the birds from a trailer and into the hands of Soldiers and their Families.

"We enjoyed being able to host Turkey for Troops again this year and look forward to continuing this tradition in the years to come," McLaughlin added.
