Soldiers face drinking-driving charges


3rd Brigade Combat Team
Alexandria Bay police stopped Oscar R. Diaz, 23, 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, after his vehicle was observed spinning its tires on a lawn at 12:32 a.m. April 7. He refused to perform a field sobriety test and was administered a breathalyzer test, which recorded a 0.15 percent blood alcohol content.
Diaz was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was ordered to appear in Alexandria Bay Village Court at a later date.

10th Mountain Division (LI)
Fort Drum security personnel stopped Ronald L. Bostic, 35, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 10th Mountain Division (LI), at 10:30 p.m. April 7 during a random vehicle check. Security detected alcohol on Bostic’s breath. He failed a field sobriety test and was administered a breathalyzer test, which recorded a 0.07 percent blood alcohol content.
Bostic was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol. He was ordered to appear in magistrate court at a later date.

3rd Battalion, 85th Infantry Regiment
Fort Drum security personnel located Brian M. Bennett, 21, 3rd Battalion, 85th Infantry Regiment, at 1:50 a.m. April 12 after he allegedly left the scene of an accident without reporting it. He admitted to having consumed alcohol while operating a vehicle and failed a field sobriety test. He was administered a breathalyzer test, which recorded a 0.13 percent blood alcohol content.
Bennett was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was ordered to appear in magistrate court at a later date.

2nd Brigade Combat Team
Jefferson County sheriffs stopped Frank J. Wilson Jr., 20, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, at 7:05 a.m. April 12 after he failed to keep right. Police detected alcohol on Wilson’s breath. He failed a field sobriety test and was administered a breathalyzer test, which recorded a 0.15 percent blood alcohol content.
Wilson was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was ordered to appear in Theresa Town Court at a later date.

Fort Drum security personnel stopped Trimiko T. Lester, 24, 4-31 Infantry, at the Iraqi Freedom Gate at 1:10 a.m. April 13. Security detected alcohol on Lester’s breath. He failed a field sobriety test and was administered a breathalyzer test, which recorded a 0.12 percent blood alcohol content.
Lester was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was ordered to appear in magistrate court at a later date.
