WELLESLEY ISLAND STATE PARK – Family fun can be found from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 9 at the 32nd Annual Autumn Festival at the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center.
Patrons will find a craft show and sale complete with spinners, weavers, pottery, wood carvings, silver and bead jewelry, photography, drawings, paintings, alpaca products, handmade goat soap and much more.
There will be music throughout the day by local groups including the Fort Drum Dixieland Band.
Entertainment for all ages includes “Westy’s Birds of Prey” and “Our World of Wildlife” with Ian Dillin, staff from Watertown’s New York State Zoo at Thompson Park with live animals, a forester from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, a climbing wall from Beaver Camp, live alpacas and farm animals.
Try the old-fashioned children’s games and crafts or paint pumpkins. Join the “Scarecrow Making Contest” for a chance to win a cash prize. Watch a cider press demonstration.
There will be lots of food provided by local groups. Fresh cider and cider donuts from Burrville Cider Mill also will be available.
Admission is $3 for adults. Admission for children 12 and younger is $1 or free with a nonperishable donation for a local food pantry. Families pay a maximum of $8. Military Families will be admitted free with ID.
All admissions will be free after 2:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Nature Center, Inc. and the Thousand Islands Region of the New York State Parks.
