WATERTOWN – The Jefferson-Lewis Association for Counseling and Development and Jefferson Community College will sponsor the 21st Annual Higher Education Night from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in the college’s McVean Student Center Gymnasium, 1220 Coffeen St.
Higher Education Night is open to anyone thinking of attending college classes or furthering their education. Admission is free.
Representatives from nearly 100 two- and four-year colleges, both public and private from as far away as Maine and Alaska, along with representatives from the armed services, will be available to meet with students and parents.
Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions regarding admission requirements, degree programs, financial aid, campus life / extracurricular activities and housing.
Additionally, a presentation on financial aid will be held from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. and again from 6:30 to 7 p.m. in the Jules Center amphitheater, Room 6-002.
New this year is a workshop titled “Chart Your Course: Planning a Successful Journey through High School and Beyond.” Sponsored by the Fort Drum Parent to Parent Program, the workshop will take place from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. in Jules Center amphitheater, Room 6-002.
This workshop will assist military-related or other highly mobile students to maneuver through the intricacies of grades 6-12 and in the selection of their post-secondary education or work choices. Attendees will come away with practical ideas as well as a Chart Your Course interactive DVD, year-by-year roadmap poster, and a DVD-Rom program to assist with college financing and admissions.
