Personal Property Shipping Office gears up for summer moving season

The Fort Drum Personal Property Shipping Office is committed to making household goods moves as smooth and efficient as possible for Soldiers, Family Members and civilians.
To more effectively serve customers moving their household goods during the summer peak season (April through September), the PPSO requests all customers make an appointment a minimum of 20 working days before the required pickup. Units should disseminate personnel orders as soon as they are received to ensure customers can promptly set up appointments due to the anticipated volume of moves during the summer peak season.
During the summer peak season, commercial moving companies quickly become saturated, and their ability to accept moves becomes extremely limited. Moving companies obligate their resources on a first-come, first-served basis. The last week of the month is usually the busiest time, and experience has shown that choice moving dates fill very quickly.
General information on household goods and helpful topics for getting ready for a move can be found at www.move.mil. Click the tab that says “Login to DPS” and register for an account. This account is required at the end of the move to file a claim and provide comments on your moving experience.
If you are on permanent-change-of-station orders, login to DPS and do a self-counseling. When self-counseling is complete, come into PPSO with a copy of your orders to sign the necessary shipping documents. Shipments cannot be booked until documents are signed.
Customers schedule counseling appointments by coming into PPSO with a copy of orders. If someone other than the Soldier or civilian employee attends the counseling session, that person must have a proper power of attorney.
The PPSO is located in Clark Hall, Bldg. P-10720, Room A2-42. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For more information, call 772-7776, and then select from the following menu:

Remember – it's your move!
