Fort Drum military spouses are invited to attend a day of outdoor fun during the annual Military Spouse Appreciation Day celebration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 10 at Remington Park.
Army Community Service is teaming up with other community services to offer a fun and informative outing for Fort Drum spouses.
“The purpose of the Military Spouse Appreciation event is to honor and thank military spouses for their service and sacrifices in the silent ranks,” said Sarah Lynch, ACS Outreach Services program manager.
“The event will consist of day of recreation at Remington Park … and archaeological tours of LeRay Mansion and the old village will be offered as well.”
This year’s event will include paintball, kayaking, volleyball, mountain biking, basketball and more.
U.S. Army Medical Department Activity also will offer an instructional self-defense and wellness / health fair.
“(Spouses can) take advantage of the wellness activities (and learn about) nutrition, (fitness) and weight loss information, and women’s health topics,” Lynch explained.
Child care is not available; however, spouses may bring their children.
President Ronald Regan proclaimed May 10 as Military Spouse Appreciation Day in 1984.
“Spouses should come to the event to meet other spouses … and relax and have lunch,” Lynch said.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. For more information, call ACS at 772-6556 / 6557.
