SYRACUSE – Syracuse Stage is offering free tickets to U.S. military personnel, U.S. military veterans and their immediate Family Members to “An Iliad,” a modern, dramatic adaptation of Homer's epic about the Trojan War.
In this theatrical presentation, a lone poet takes on a variety of roles, from Helen of Troy to the warrior Achilles, vivifying the tale's power. Using contemporary speech with evocative poetry, this play chronicles the Trojan War and examines concepts of honor and heroism through the war in Afghanistan.
Complimentary tickets are available to military Families for three different performances of “An Iliad:” Saturday, with reception at 1:30 p.m. and performance at 3 p.m.; May 29, with reception at 6 p.m. and performance at 7:30 p.m.; and June 2, with reception at 12:30 p.m. and performance at 2 p.m.
