CLAYTON – The Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund is proud to present the iconic classic rock band Jefferson Starship at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Clayton Opera House.
Tickets cost $45-$60. They are available at the Clayton Opera House Box Office, by calling 686-2200 or visiting www.claytonoperahouse.com.
Jefferson Starship, the name created by Paul Kantner for his 1971 solo debut “Blows Against The Empire” recording, has endured 37 years as rock music’s premier “political science fiction” themed band. That recording was the first and only to ever be nominated for literary science fiction’s Hugo Award.
Along with the band co-founders Paul Kantner and David Frieberg, Jefferson Starship also features lead singer Cathy Richardson (who played Janis Joplin on Broadway in “Love, Janis”) and longtime band members Chris Smith and Donny Baldwin. The band continues to perform its iconic repertoire of hits spanning all eras of its existence, including "Jane," "Somebody to Love," "Miracles," "White Rabbit," "Volunteers," "Count on Me" and many more.
The Clayton Opera House is located at 405 Riverside Drive in Clayton. Box office hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday; and one hour before all performances.
