NEWS RELEASE: 2nd Brigade Combat Team Soldier killed in Iraq Feb. 6

FORT DRUM – An infantryman assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team was killed in Baghdad Feb. 6 while conducting guard duty.

Pfc. Brian A. Browning, 20, was a rifleman with Company B, 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI).

Originally from Astoria, Ore., Browning enlisted in the Army in July 2005 and trained at Fort Benning, Ga., to be an infantry Soldier. After completion of basic and advanced individual training, he was assigned to the Commando Brigade.

Browning deployed with his unit to Iraq in August 2006.

His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

He is survived by his parents.
