Welcome Home Ceremony for Returning Troops

 

Fort Drum, NY - A welcome home ceremony was held for nearly 100 Soldiers returning from Afghanistan in the early morning hours of September 15 at Magrath Sports Complex. The Soldiers are members of the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 10th Mountain Division.

 

They spent the last year in Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the ISAF Regional Command South Headquarters. 

 

As RC South, they were responsible for the combat and stability operations in the southern Afghan provinces of Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan and Dai Kundi.  This was a multi-national command responsible for over 23,000 US, Canadian, British, Australian, New Zealand, Romanian, Slovak, Dutch, French, and Singaporean troops.
