10th Mountain Division Soldier killed in Afghanistan
Fort Drum, NY - A 10th Mountain Division Soldier with 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team died April 15 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, of injuries sustained April 12 when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire in Pul-e-Alam, Logar province, Afghanistan.
Killed is Specialist Kerry M. G. Danyluk, age 27, of Cuero, Texas. He was an infantryman.
Danyluk joined the Army in October 2010. After training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to Fort Benning in February 2011. Danyluk deployed to Afghanistan in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom from December 2011 to
February 2012. He arrived at Fort Drum in March 2013 and deployed with his unit in November 2013 to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Danyluk's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign
Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Certificate of Achievement, the Combat Infantryman Badge,
and the Parachutist Badge. He completed the Master Driver Trainer Course, the Ranger Assessment Selection Program, the Airborne School and the Combatives Level 1 Course.
Danyluk is survived by his mother and father.
