10th Mountain Division Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

Fort Drum, NY - A Soldier with the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, died Wednesday, March 9th in Bagram, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident on March 7 in Kunduz, Afghanistan.

Killed is Specialist Andrew P. Wade, an infantryman, age 22, of Antioch, Illinois.

Wade joined the U.S. Army in September 2008.  After completing training at Fort Benning, Georgia, Wade arrived to Fort Drum in April 2009.  He deployed with his unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Spring of 2010.

Wade's awards and decorations include the NATO medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

Wade is survived by his mother and father.
