Annual Mountainfest to include Remembrance Ceremony and Salute to the Nation.

 

Fort Drum, NY -The annual Fort Drum Mountainfest will host a wide variety of events to include the Annual Remembrance Ceremony and the Salute to the Nation.

 

The Remembrance Ceremony will be held on June 22 at 10 a.m. in Memorial Park. This event will honor the memories of 21 Soldiers who died during 2010 in Iraq and Afghanistan.

 

The Salute to the Nation will begin at 5 p.m. on June 23 with a 54 gun salute for all 50 states and 4 territories. The Salute to the Nation is held in honor of our country and those who serve in its military and in remembrance for the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Following the Salute to the Nation is a concert and fireworks.

 

Mountainfest activities will be held on June 23 starting at 1 p.m. at Division Hill Parade Field. There will be several military displays, a kids fun zone, games and family entertainment.

 

The annual celebration is open to all Soldiers, Family members, civilians, and guests.

 



NOTE TO EDITORS*

 

Media interested in covering the Annual Remembrance Ceremony should be at the Media Operations Center on RT26 no later than 9:15a.m. on June 22.

 

Media interested in covering the Salute to the Nation should be at the Media Operations Center on RT26 no later than 4 p.m.  on June 23.
