10th Mountain Division Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

 

Fort Drum, NY - A 10th Mountain Division Solider stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, was killed Friday, April 7, in Logar province, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire.

 

Killed is Sergeant Keith T. Buzinski, age 26, of Daytona Beach, Florida. He was an infantryman with the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.

 

Buzinski joined the U.S. Army in August 2006.  After completing training at Fort Benning, Georgia he was stationed at Fort Campbell in December 2006 and then Fort Polk in September 2009.  He deployed with his unit in October 2010.  Buzinski had previously deployed to Iraq from September 2007 to November 2008.

 

Buzinski's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Valorous Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, the NATO Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

 

Buzinski is survived by his wife, two children, sister, mother and father.
