10th Mountain Division Soldier killed in Afghanistan

 

Fort Drum, NY - An infantryman with the 1st Battalion 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, April 19.

 

Killed is Private First Class John F. Kihm, age 19 of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

 

Kihm joined the Army in March, 2010.  After completing training at Fort Benning, Georgia he came to Fort Drum in August 2010. Kihm deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in March 2011.

 

Kihm's awards and decorations include the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

 

Kihm is survived by his mother and father.
