JOINT SECURITY STATION SHAWRA UM JADR, Iraq Sgt. Christopher Hatton, a forward observer from Livingston, Texas assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Multi-National Division Baghdad, builds a deck outside the battalion tactical operations center to be used as a place for Soldiers to relax after missions in eastern Baghdad. When Hatton is not on missions, he helps improve living conditions on the joint security station such as building lofts and shelves in Soldiers' rooms. JOINT SECURITY STATION SHAWRA UM JADR, Iraq Pfc. Boston Snelson from Decatur, Ill., who serves as a medic for Company B, 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Multi-National Division Baghdad, administers minor treatment to an elderly Iraqi couple that suffers from minor headaches while on patrol in the Shawra Um Jadr (SUJ) area of eastern Baghdad. Snelson, who is on his first tour in Iraq, has treated a multitude of injuries ranging from severe trauma for numerous Iraqi National Police officers after a rocket attack to small, everyday injuries and illnesses he sees while patrolling the streets of Al Rashad and Hay Nasser. Snelson said he enjoys working with the infantry that blends very well as a medic. He has also developed rapport with many ISF members he meets on a day-to-day basis while working with a platoon engagement team, which he attributes to the success in this region. (Courtesy photo)
