MEDIA ADVISORY: Army Secretary to visit Fort Drum May 9

FORT DRUM – Army Secretary Peter Geren will visit Fort Drum May 9 to meet with 10th Mountain Division Soldiers and Families and participate in an event to mark the support that the North Country has, and continues to, provide 10th Mountain Division Soldiers.



While here, Geren will visit wounded warriors from 3rd Battalion, 85th Infantry Regiment and Families of deployed Soldiers. Geren will also participate in a luncheon with Fort Drum spouses to mark the 2008 Military Spouse Appreciation Day celebrated that day.



This will be Geren's first visit to the North Country while serving as Secretary of the Army.

The only media opportunity with Secretary Geren will take place at the Community Covenant ceremony at the Dealmaker Convention Center in Watertown immediately following the signing ceremony. To cover the event, media members should meet at the Dealmaker Convention Center on Main Avenue, in Watertown by 3:45 p.m.
