10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry)
Brigadier General Kenneth R. Dahl (KD) graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York, in 1982. He is currently serving as the Deputy Commanding General for Support for the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Fort Drum. He has held this position since July of 2010 and deployed with 10th Mountain Division HQs to Kandahar, Afghanistan as the Deputy Commanding General for Support and Stability for Regional Command- South from October 2010 to October 2011.
He served previously in the Pentagon on the Joint Staff, J5 as Assistant Deputy Director for Political Military Affairs, Middle East. In June 2007 he completed a Federal Executive Fellowship at the Brookings Institution in the 21st Century Defense Initiative Program where he focused his efforts on U.S. Government Interagency Reform.
From 2004-2006 he was Commander of the 212th Field Artillery Brigade, Fort Sill Oklahoma. While deployed to Iraq from September 2005-August 2006 he was Commander of the Joint Area Support Group-Central, Multi-National Force-Iraq, providing command and control of the International (Green) Zone, in support of the United States Embassy, MNF-I (Fwd) HQ’s and the Government of Iraq.
Brigadier General Dahl served in the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany, 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg NC, and 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii. He served as an Assistant Professor of Military Leadership at the United States Military Academy, current operations officer for XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, NC and Deputy Director of Staff Operations, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Mons, Belgium.
Brigadier General Dahl and holds a Master of Arts degree in Social Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. He also served as a National Security Fellow in the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (Four Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (Two Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (Four Oak Leaf Clusters), Air Assault Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab.
